One can argue that a short story is a short story based on its length and structure. A short story is typically shorter in length than a novel, often ranging from 1,000 to 10,000 words. It also follows a specific narrative structure, with a clear beginning, middle, and end, and focuses on a single event or character. Additionally, a short story is often more focused and concise in its storytelling, with a limited number of characters and a single central theme or idea. Overall, these characteristics distinguish a short story from longer forms of fiction and support the argument that it is indeed a short story. **
